Lot number: 183
Toyota MR2 Series 1 1987 This 1987 Toyota MR2 is a rare sight indeed today with most of the thousands that were sold disappearing due to our climate. Well luckily E122HAP had an owner that loved the car enough to carry out the repairs required and over the years a mint was spent doing just this. As proven by its exceptionally large history file.
The dark blue body work is in very good condition and is complimented by the optional subtle body kit and set off by a nice set of contrasting coloured aftermarket alloy wheels. The original blue cloth interior is in perfect condition and comes with the usual array of electrical options electric windows etc and three way adjustable seating.
Directly behind your back is the jewel of these cars that brilliant 1600cc double overhead cam multi valve engine that is more akin to a motorcycle engine by the way it loves to be revved. Toyota then matched it to a gear box with well suited ratios and aided by its midengine placement and suspension designed by Toyota but with input from Lotus created one of the best all round two seater sports cars of the time. This car is a fine example of that and all these years on it has to be one of the most fun cars to own and drive with the engine still pulling through the rev range and the gearbox selecting gears as designed. Along with the engine and gearbox in this car all the general mechanics are stated to be very good.
While currently the MOT is through to September the vendor is going to place a new one on the car prior to the auction. With demand for Japanese classic cars being very strong today these early MK1 MR2s are now very sought after.
