Jaguar MK2 3.8 Manual with Overdrive Manufactured in 1961 and first registered on 1st January 1962, this Mk2 Jaguar has had an active past.
Sold new to Colchester Tractors and registered as AJH73A, by the midsixties it was being raced by a Mr R. Wilkinson. Then by the mid 80's, a Mr. M. Large was competing in it, prior to which he restored all the panel work, removing any rust (pictorial evidence available) and respraying it from the white it was in to the red you see today.
Prior to sale to the vendor, the race engine was removed and the original 3.8 was refitted. Many of the modifications are still in place, including the "Coombsstyle" fluted bonnet, battery relocated to the boot, wide rear axle with uprated suspension and brakes, larger carbs and performance exhaust system etc. The vendor says that Coombs themselves were rumoured to of been involved but we have no way of confirming this and you must value this information as such.
Bodywork is described as "Good" and is very solid having had many panels replaced when restored but that was 30 years ago, so now has areas that need some cosmetic attention. The underneath of the car is excellent and the mechanics in general, which have also beed described as "Good", operate as they should. The interior is original and as such needs some attention, predominately to the front seats but being original is described by the vendor as "Good".
All in all, a lovely MK2 with some racing heritage that drives very well.
