Ford Cortina 1.6 MK5 - Considering just how many Mk5 Cortinas that were once on our roads, especially here in Essex, seeing one at all is a very rare site let alone one in this true "Survivor" condition with just over 25000 miles on the clock!
In its original factory colour of Tuscan Brown this 1981 W registered MK5 is described as a 1.6L Model with factory fitted GL interior and wheels and has had 4 previous registered keepers in its life.
As you can see its condition, along with all its previous MOTs, backs up the mileage. The lack of corrosion is on the whole from having an anti-rust "Ziebart" treatment from new (original Ziebart certificate is present with the cars paperwork) along with the obvious lack of use during bad weather.
Interior is excellent with just the slightest signs of usage and all original. The condition of its switch gear etc bears testimony to their lack of use over the years.
Since owning the car, the vendor has carried out regular maintenance and repairs to keep the car not only in its current condition but running and driving correctly. Including but not limited to a new "Weber" carburettor with a manual choke conversion. A full service including a new cam shaft kit with the very necessary replacement oil feed bar to get rid of the original poor Ford designed bar that caused so many noisy camshafts back in the day. New shock absorbers and springs and a fully "Polly-Bushed" front suspension. With all this done the car drives very well with no mechanical faults and all the electrics operate as designed.
The car comes as mentioned previously, with all its old MOTs and Ziebart certificate, plus old tax discs, bills to prove the work listed above and its original bill of sale. Currently the car is on "SORN", the previous MOT running out March 2016. The vendor also says it comes with some spares but at the moment we are not aware of what these comprise of.
This car is already good enough to be a show car and with a little effort could well be a show winner. A must for any Ford collector.
