Buick Riviera Special 1956 This stunning and crowd stopping 1956 Buick has just undergone some restoration work to bring it to the standard you see today.
The two tone exterior in Glacier Green over white has benefited from a full respray that has been done to a very high standard. While the acres of exterior bright work a mix of chrome and stainless steel is original with the chrome work being perfect and the stainless not far behind.
The interior is fabulous chrome everywhere and all in great condition the two tone trim matching the exterior colour scheme. Sitting in it you look about and realise just how much work and detail went into American cars of this era and why they ruled the roads for so many years as other countries manufacturers struggled to catch up!
Under the hood you will find a smooth running and very healthy 322 cu in (thats 5.3 litres to us) V8 engine with the transmission being a Dynaflow auto gearbox. Both are described as superb. While no record setter with this combination comes a surprisingly fleet performance for a car of this size more than enough to keep up with modern traffic and motorway speeds. Luckily the brakes on this car are described as Superb as well!
The reaction you get when driving this car is unbelievable people actually stop to let you out into traffic want to talk to you in garages and car parks rather than look at the floor and shuffle past. As the vendor says Put extra time on for a journey to allow for people wanting to talk to you
As with all old cars there are a few minor electrical gremlins and the next stage the vendor would of gone to just for his own piece of mind as nothing actually wrong at the moment is a steering and suspension freshen up to tighten things up a bit and just some extra detailing here and there. But these are things the next owner can do if they are as fussy as him and part of the fun of owning this wonderful piece of 50s Americana.
