Vauxhall VX220 Low miles with history 2002 A rarer sight on our roads than its relative the Lotus Elise is what we have here today this excellent condition and very pretty 2002 Vauxhall VX220. People often think the VX is no more than a rebadged Lotus but in fact only 10% of its components are shared with the Elise its extruded aluminium chassis tub. The 220s 30mm longer wheel base and 20mm wider track plus its 17 inch alloy wheels all round meant that in many motoring journalists opinions at the time it was a nicer car to drive in real life more poised and less pointy than the Elise. Throw in the fact that the VX has a more powerful 2.2 litre all ally engine compared to the Lotuss Rover K series unit plus came with antilock braking as standard and a drivers air bag just in case you can understand why! This stunning example has a beautiful exterior with no signs of damage or wear. Its interior is pretty much the same with just the inescapable wear on the drivers seat caused by getting in and out of the car. Well more climbing in than getting as once in the seats grab hold of you as a nod to the handling prowess of this car. The very low recorded miles on the car is evident with the engine being in excellent order and the gearbox still giving the precise selection of the gears as when new. Some of this might also be down to it having in its history the invoices reflecting the services carried out by Vauxhall since new. All but the last one done a week ago by an independent engineer. The electrics general mechanics and everything else on the car are A1 and there are excellent Yokohama tyres on each corner. Once every now and then a car is produced that becomes an instant classic not normally from companies like Vauxhall though. With the VX220 for the few years it was produced they really did knock it out of the park. Now good examples such as this are very sought after and hard to find and lets face it They are a damn good looking car.
