Mercedes 250SE 1966 This lovely old 250SE Merc has spent its life living in and around St Tropez in France where from 6 months old it was owned by a local garage owner then his son. On losing his dad the son no longer wanted the car so sold it to the vendor. He drove it back from France to the UK.
The black body work is very nice having been refreshed about 8 years ago. Rare to see in black it seems to emphasise this models classic lines that make these 60s Mercedes cars so desirable. Interior is original with some small areas of damage to the seats not unusual with this type of material as the perforations in the face of material tend to end up joining up unusual it has lasted this long! The rest of the seats are good and require little more than a clean. The dash door cards etc are all good. The odometer shows 31067 KMS so assume it has been round. For some unknown reason at some point in its life a 300 badge has replaced the original and correct 250 one? It is and always has been a 250 so who knows?
Mechanically the car is good and so it should be as in the cars recent history over 12000 Euros has been spent (with bills to prove) on things like new brakes all round including new front calipers. New carbs. New front suspension including shocks. New radiator battery and tyres.
The engine starts easily and once warm settles into a nice even tick over and pulls the car along in a way that only these old Mercedes do. All in all a very nice example of 60s German engineering at its best and now a very sought after car for both collectors and enthusiasts. We think it is being undervalued by the vendor and is being offered with a very low reserve. Especially for a car that with very little work has plenty of scope for a further increase in value.
Supplied with original French papers for proof of age if registering here in the UK.
