A fine quality clockwork automaton singing bird housed in a tortoiseshell box with Swiss gilt metal mounts, the top inset with an oval miniature painting of a finely dressed Gent and a lady walking amongst a wooded landscape with a castellated building in the background. The box measures 10cm x 6.5cm x 3cm. The box comes with a leather bound fitted exterior case and winding key. Fully working.
