David Hockney (b1937) The Black and White Cat. A ceramic sculpture of a black and white cat with elongated upright tail. Circa 1955-56. Considered to be the first cat made by David Hockney. 38cm long 35cm High 12cm wide. The cat sold with the original design and letter from David Hockney to the vendor. Provenance: Made by David Hockney and given as gift to the Vendor Mr Peter Richards. The cat of kindness, David Hockney made 5-6 Ceramic cats with varying colour ways all where given as thank you gifts including one given as wedding gift. This is considered to be the first cat made and the only one with accompanying documentation from David Hockney.
