A copy of 'Band On The Run' by Wings with Paul and Linda McCartney's autographs attached to the reverse. Provenance from the vendor as follows. I was at school at Appleton in Benfleet and Mr Hammond our drama teacher took my class on a school trip to Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palace theatre It was my first school trip and my first visit to a London musical. I think it was in 1973 at the start of the Autumn term In the theatre and one of the actors was replaced by an understudy and a paper slip was put in the programme. In the interval we all went up to the bar and I spied Paul and Linda sitting at a table enjoying a drink I went across and asked if they were Paul and Linda McCartney and if they were could I have an autograph. None of the rest of my group noticed who they were and actually no one else was bothering them. They were incredibly kind and they sat me down, bought me a lemonade and found the slip in my programme which they both signed. Paul told me all about his new band that he had called Wings and that in a few months there would be an album out called Band on the Run. Linda told me that is was very healthy to be Vegetarian and that she never ate meat. Paul was dressed in a very smart pale blue suit and Linda was in a Kaftan in more muted shades. They were incredibly nice kind and polite to me. The album came out in the December and I bought it immediately. I loved it and I stuck the autographs to it and that's where they have been ever since. I never did like like Linda's veggie sausages though which I also dutifully tried when they came out many years later.
