Alfa Romeo GTV 3 litre 24 Valve 2000 - Launched in 1995 the latest car from Alfa Romeo to carry the coveted "GTV" name, this model received numerous awards, amongst which were "Car of the year Autocar Magazine" and "The Worlds most beautiful Automobile award" with its chief engineer personally receiving the "Engineer of the Year award" but more was to come in 1998 when our own "Jezzer" Clarkson declared it as "The Best Sports Car"!! a high accolade indeed!! The 150MPH V6 24 Valve version of which was king of the hill and the one to be with. Ferrari performance and looks for Fiat money!
This particular example was first registered in May 2000 and with just 103K miles on the clock has stood the test of time very well, the photos taken on a wet misty day do not do it justice. Its body work is very straight and will polish very nicely, benefiting from the larger rear spoiler and front splitter. Interior is typical Italian, black leather and brushed aluminium everywhere and apart from some very minor wear to the drivers seat side bolster, in very good order throughout, a very nice place to be with the sports seats grabbing you when you sit in them giving you a definite hint on the handling prowess of the chassis.
But yes while the interior and exterior are important, we all know that to the people who want these cars the important bit is whats under the bonnet, Alfas glorious 24 Valve 3litre V6 engine and that lovely exhaust note when you blip the throttle, on this car the exhaust and air filter are the only non-standard items being of a performance type, both of which enhance this.
Now 20 plus years after introduction people are once again realising what wonderfully well designed cars these are and prices, especially for the 3 Litre versions are on the up. A true 4 seater "Sports Coupe" with Alfa Romeos pedigree running through its DNA. One you can use to work in the week and a track day at the weekend!
