Lot number: 124

BMW 850i Same owner for the last 20 years. 1991 - This very pretty BMW 850i comes to us having been owned by the vendor for the last 20 years, with one previous owner recorded before him. Its overall condition bears testament to its owners and it is as good looking today as when it rolled out of the showroom in November 1991. Launched in 1990 the new 850i was the first car in the range to be equipped with BMWs new 5 litre V12 engine producing 300 PS (296 HP). It was available with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5 speed manual, this particular car having the Automatic option, preferred by many, giving this excellent GT car a smooth and relaxing drive while covering distances at a surprisingly fast rate of knots. This coupled with its aggressive good looks and instantly recognisable body made it the car to have in the early 90s, but with a high price tag and a global recession so the resulting price hike of oil and so fuel, sales were slow and the model was dropped, making it a rare beast today. This particular car has a low recorded mileage of just under 107,000 miles. The vendor does have somewhere its owners pack with its history, but at this point in time cannot find it. So unless stated otherwise please take it that the history has been lost. However he does have some receipts etc. That coupled with the MOT history showing that in June 2006 it had only covered 89117 miles, plus its long term ownership, you can judge from there. Totally standard and rare to find in red, the bodywork is all in very good order with only the very odd mark here and there (it is 26 years old!) and the paint appears to be original. This originality extends to the alloy wheels that are again in very good order. Inside is typical high class BMW with the black leather having stood the test of time very well with just some slight loss of colour on the drivers seat side bolster. Once seated inside you get the idea of why these cars were so expensive and realise just how low budget supposed luxury cars of today have become with their cheap leather and poor quality interiors, this interior oozes class but at the same time German functionality. Mechanically everything is stated to be very good with all relevant electrics working correctly. There is a current MOT through to 30th of July and with the sensible reserve set by the vendor, this lovely car represents one of the best value 850 BMs on the market today. Go on spoil yourself.
