Jaguar MK 1X 1960 There is no getting away from it Jaguars MK 1X is an imposing car from all angles and with only a 2 year production run of just over 10000 cars was always going to be a rare car. Loved by visiting state dignitaries so often used as ceremonial cars and the first Jaguar to have power steering and servo assisted disc brakes on all four wheels. The lovely 1960 example we have here has been lovingly refreshed over a period of time including a back to bare metal respray into the glorious Bronze colour it is in today. When this was done any and all areas of concern in the body work were replaced before many layers of paint were applied to obtain this finish. Work did not stop at the bodywork while this was happening the car received a reconditioned gear box new rear brake discs complete with reconditioned callipers and obviously new brake pads new tyres all round and an upgrade to its headlights. The aim of this work was not just to have a beautiful car but one you could drive every day if you wished to. Inside you will see the same level of attention has been lavished on the interior with the leather and wood being superb with the quality of craftsmanship displayed by the Jaguar trimmers often now lamented as long lost on modern luxury cars. Under the bonnet the new for this model 3.8 litre engine now produced a claimed 220 horse power and even now 57 years on still pulls the car along with great ease and surprisingly quickly. Back in 1958 when launched car related publications were seeing speeds of well over 110 mph and today this engine coupled with the servo brakes and Jaguars good chassis makes the MK 1X a popular choice with classic car racers often to be seen gracefully 4 wheel drifting round circuits such as Goodwood at its revival and members meetings. The general mechanics and the electrics are all very good. There is also a lot of service history and a current MOT until March 2018 done at 68818 miles (last MOTd at 67709 in 2015). If you are lucky enough to buy this Jag be prepared to be a very proud owner.
