An agate needle case with enamelled gold mounts, English, circa 1760, of cylindrical tapering form, the grey figured agate body decorated with chased borders of alternating c-scrolls and flowers and Corinthian columns around top and bottom of base and lid, the latter with a fine white enamel band with gold inscription reading: Vous Loffre L’amitite (You Offer Freindship), slight domed top and underside. 10.6cm. Some damage to agate panels and gold work.
